Angelos V. Billis (‘47) was Administrative Manager of the Heineken company in Thessaloniki, Greece from 1974 until his retirement in 1999. Mr. Billis also served as the Public Affairs Manager for the ESSO (EXXON) petroleum and chemical companies in Athens (1965-1974) and held the position of Press Attaché at the Greek Embassy in Washington, DC (1960-65). He also served a two-year term of duty as 2nd Lt in the Greek army and as an interpreter to the US military mission to Greece in Athens. Mr. Billis was a founding member and President of the Friends of Anatolia College Association (1985-1989 and 2000-2004), and he has also served as President of the Anatolia College Parents’ Association (1980-1985) and as a board member and Vice-President of the Anatolia College Alumni Association (1978-1980). Throughout his business career, Mr. Billis was also active with many other non-profit organizations. He was an elected officer on the Executive Board of the Federation of Industries of Northern Greece for 16 consecutive years (alternating in the posts of Secretary General and 2nd Vice-President 1981-1997), a board member of the Thessaloniki Chamber of Commerce and Industry, a President of the Propeller Club of the USA, Port of Thessaloniki (1990-1994), a member of the Rotary Club, a development committee member of the Friends of the American Farm School Association and a member of the Thessaloniki Committee of the British-Hellenic Chamber of Commerce. Mr. Billis studied Law and Economics at the University of Thessaloniki, graduating summa cum laude (1954), and completed his post-graduate studies in International Relations at the George Washington University School of Government (1959).
