George S. Bissell, past Chairman of the Board of Trustees, spent his entire business career in the Boston, Massachusetts investment community. His professional responsibilities include being a longtime board member and Chairman (1968-1969) of the Association of Investment Management and Research (AIMR) and longtime member and Chairman (1982-1983) of the Investment Company Institute. Mr. Bissell joined the Board of Trustees of Anatolia in 1965, initially focused on the Investment Committee for the management of Anatolia’s endowment funds. In recent years, he assumed the responsibilities of Vice Chairman and Chairman. Construction of the new library at the American College of Thessaloniki was supported generously by Mr. Bissell. He served as trustee of the University Hospital for 32 years (1965-1997) and Chairman of the hospital’s Investment Committee (1976-2001). In 1994, Mr. Bissell established a foundation in his name dedicated to education. He funded a faculty chair at Hiram College, OH in honor of his father. Mr. Bissell received the Distinguished Service Award of the Association of Investment Management and Research (1988); the Hellenic Heritage Achievement (1997) and National Public Service Award from the American Hellenic Institute (1997). He was elected to the Garfield Society of Hiram College (1999) and was awarded the Silver Cross of the Phoenix by the President of the Hellenic Republic (2004). Mr. Bissell received a BA from Dartmouth College (1951) and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
