CTY Greece 2019 Summer Program Positions

The Center for Talented Youth at Anatolia College seeks applicants for the 2019 Summer Programs in Thessaloniki and Athens for full-time employment from the 21st of June to the 12th of July 2019. At CTY Greece, you will work with an exceptional group of students and dynamic colleagues, and gain valuable experience in a rigorous academic community. This is a great opportunity for professional development for young scientists (teaching assistants) or undergraduate or recent graduates (residential assistants).

The positions available and the job responsibilities are shown below:

1. Teaching Assistant for the course “Introduction to Psychology” in the Thessaloniki program, for High School students.

  • Qualifications: University Degree in Psychology
  • Experience in teaching psychology in English
  • Excellent command of the English language is required

2. Teaching Assistant for the course “Genetics” in the Thessaloniki program, for High School students.

  • Qualifications: University Degree in Biology or Genetics or an equivalent degree
  • Excellent command of the English language is required

3. Program Assistant in the Thessaloniki program, for Elementary school students.

  • Qualifications: Graduate of Pedagogical Department
  • Excellent command of the Greek and English languages is required

4. Residential Assistant in the Thessaloniki Residential program for High School students.

  • Qualifications: Suitable candidates should be undergraduates or recent graduates of a university department
  • Excellent command of the English language is required

5. Teaching Assistant for the course “Economics and Business” in the Athens program, for High School students.

  • Qualifications: University Degree in Economics or Business
  • Excellent command of the English language is required

6. Teaching Assistant for the course “Cryptology” in the Athens program, for High School students.

  • Qualifications: University Degree in Mathematics
  • Excellent command of the English language is required

7. Teaching Assistant for the course “Fundamentals of Engineering Design” in the Athens program, for High School students.

  • Qualifications: University Degree in Physics or Engineering
  • Excellent command of the English language

8. Program Assistant for the Athens program, for Elementary School students.

  • Qualifications: Graduate of Pedagogical Department
  • Excellent command of the Greek and English languages is required

9. Office Manager for the Athens program.

  • Qualifications: Suitable candidates should be graduates of a university department, have strong organizational and multitasking skills, be proficient in MS Word and Excel, have strong interpersonal skills and professional demeanor, and be adaptable to a fast-paced working environment.
  • Excellent command of the Greek and English languages is required

The Job Responsibilities for each position are shown below:

TEACHING ASSISTANTS (TAs) are expected to assist the instructor during class time. Their daily working hours are morning/afternoon class times (and evening sessions in residential programs). TAs are expected to:

  • assist the instructor with the smooth operation of the class
  • assist with the class paperwork, photocopying, and clerical tasks
  • set up and clean up demonstrations, activities, and laboratory experiments where appropriate
  • supervise and escort students to class

PROGRAM ASSISTANTS (PAs) are responsible for student supervision both inside and outside the classroom.

  • assist the instructor with the smooth operation of the class
  • assist with the class paperwork, photocopying, and clerical tasks
  • set up and clean up demonstrations, activities, and laboratory experiments where appropriate
  • supervise students during lunch, breaks, and afternoon activities

RESIDENTIAL ASSISTANTS (RAs):

  • are responsible for the supervision, safety, and well-being of students
  • help create a community where students can succeed socially and academically
  • attend daily meetings, plan and prepare student activities and events
  • assisting with any residential program needs that arise

RAs’ working hours are primarily the hours students are not in class, including weekends.

OFFICE MANAGER:

  • communicates promptly, clearly, and sensitively with administrators, staff, students, parents, and the host institution
  • assists the site director in all aspects of the day-to-day operation of the site’s main office
  • performs a variety of clerical tasks, including the coordination and record-keeping of financial expenditures
  • creates a friendly, organized, and professional office environment that is necessary for others to do their jobs successfully
