Overview of the Position

Teachers are responsible for teaching a designated number of hours/courses/grade levels and fulfilling important auxiliary requirements. Overall, teachers are expected to work cooperatively with students, parents and colleagues to create and support an inclusive, individualized learning environment with student success as the foremost goal. Attendance and punctuality are of utmost importance for this learning environment. Teachers should be native or near native speakers of English and have prior experience teaching in an English-speaking school environment.

Scope of the position

The IB Psychology teacher reports to the Secondary Principal the IB DP Coordinator and works closely with the Social Studies department chair, colleagues, students, and parents. Main responsibilities include teaching of IB DP Psychology classes and supervising IB Psychology extended essays.


  • Embrace the mission, vision and philosophy of the school
  • Prepare weekly outlines and course descriptions each year and submit them to the Secondary Principal and the IB DP Coordinator
  • Implement IB DP standards in course design and delivery
  • Prepare and teach daily lessons and complete the yearly curriculum as outlined
  • Carry out advisory duties as assigned by the Secondary Principal
  • Supervise students in the classroom and during recess/lunch/school activities to ensure safety
  • Assist with order and discipline both in the classroom and around the school
  • Participate in the faculty appraisal system as designated by the Head of School and the Secondary Principal
  • Administer appropriate formative and summative assessments to drive student learning
  • Comply with all student SEN accommodations as identified by the school
  • Monitor student progress, including up-to-date and accurate record-keeping
  • Submit grades and written comments promptly as required by the Social Studies department chair, the IB DP Coordinator and the Secondary Principal
  • Communicate judiciously with students and parents regarding student progress and feedback
  • Make time during the school day for student and/or parent conferences
  • Attend weekly and monthly faculty meetings as called by the Head of School, IB DP Coordinator, Secondary Principal and/or the Social Studies department chair
  • Chaperone special school activities on a rotational basis
  • Participate in professional development activities throughout the year
  • Participate in evening sessions for parent/teacher conferences and other parent-oriented events


  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in English
  • Valid teaching certification / license relevant to the position
  • Native or near native speaker of English
  • Interest, initiative and energy to thrive in a lively and fast-paced school setting
  • Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team
  • Interest in living in Greece
  • Experience working in an English-speaking school is preferred
  • Experience teaching IB DP Psychology is preferred
