EFL Teachers in rural Miki (Xanthi) Northern Greece

As part of their outreach program, Anatolia College of Thessaloniki invites expression of interest for EFL teachers from September 2022. The position requires teachers to work afternoon and evenings with upper elementary school children in the Muslim area of rural Miki in Northern Greece.

The opportunity is ideal for experienced teachers who are looking to step out of the box and make a difference. For most of the children English is their 3rd/4th language.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • To teach upper elementary Muslim minority children English at elementary level
  • Required to work afternoon, evenings and (possibly) Saturday morning
  • Own means of transport essential
  • Be available 10-15hrs per week
  • To report to the coordinator
  • To undergo continuous professional development on curriculum
  • To submit records


Educational Background

  • A formal language qualification such as B.Ed., PGCE, TEFL, CELTA
  • 3 years minimum EFL experience
  • Additional training on curriculum will be given

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

  • An open minded and non-judgemental approach
  • Strong communication skills in English
  • Experience using search engines (internet) for research
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel, Google calendars, Google docs/forms; general Web proficiency
  • Ability to work in a diverse multicultural work environment
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Adaptability/Flexibility: Adapt to change, is open to new ideas, takes on new responsibilities, handles pressure, and adjusts plans to meet changing needs.
  • Teamwork:  Meets all team deadlines and responsibilities, helps team leader to meet goals
  • Hold a valid driving license and access to a car.


  • A minimum of 3 years experience in a relevant position/field is required
  • Experience working in a school/ educational environment is considered an asset
  • Additional training on curriculum will be given

Contract Details

  • Very competitive rates of pay and insurance contributions

  • Fixed term/part time/ongoing contract
