Job Announcement for CTY Greece Summer Program Positions

The Center for Talented Youth at Anatolia College seeks applicants for the 2020 Summer Programs in Thessaloniki and Athens for full-time employment from the 26th of June to the 17th of July 2020.  At CTY Greece, you will work with an exceptional group of students and dynamic colleagues, and gain valuable experience in a rigorous academic community. This is a great opportunity for professional development for young scientists (teaching assistants) or undergraduate or recent graduates (residential assistants).

The positions available and the job responsibilities are shown below:

1. A Teaching Assistant for the course “Economics and Business” in the Athens program, for high school students.

  • Qualifications: BA in Economics or Business
  • Excellent command of the English language

2. A Teaching Assistant for the course “Fundamentals of Engineering Design” in the Athens program, for high school students.

  • Qualifications: BSc in Physics or Engineering
  • Excellent command of the English language

3. A Teaching Assistant for the course “Cryptology” in the Athens program, for high school students.

  • Qualifications: BSc in Mathematics
  • Excellent command of the English language

4. A Teaching Assistant for the course “Genetics” in the Thessaloniki program, for high school students.

  • Qualifications: BSc in Biology or Genetics or an equivalent degree
  • Excellent command of the Greek and English languages

5. A Teaching Assistant for the course “Introduction to Biomedical Sciences” in the Thessaloniki program, for high school students.

  • Qualifications: BSc in Biology or Genetics or an equivalent degree
  • Excellent command of the Greek and English languages

6. A Teaching Assistant for the course CSI@CTY in the Thessaloniki program, for high school students.

  • Qualifications: BSc in Chemistry or an equivalent degree
  • Excellent command of the Greek and English languages

7. A Teaching Assistant for the course “Nutrition: Highway to Health” in the Thessaloniki program, for high school students.

  • Qualifications: BSc in Nutrition and Dietetics or an equivalent degree
  • Excellent command of the Greek and English languages

8. A Residential Assistant in the Thessaloniki Residential program for high school students. This is a live-in position.

  • Qualifications: Suitable candidates should be undergraduates or recent graduates of a university department
  • Excellent command of the English language

9. Program Assistant in the Athens program, for Elementary School students.

  • Qualifications: Graduate of Pedagogical Department
  • Excellent command of the Greek and English languages is required

10. Program Assistant in the Thessaloniki program, for Elementary school students.

  • Qualifications: Graduate of Pedagogical Department
  • Excellent command of the Greek and English languages is required

11. Office Assistant in the Thessaloniki program.

  • Qualifications: University Graduate
  • Good organizational skills and computer literacy (Microsoft office)
  • Excellent command of the Greek and English languages is required

The Job Responsibilities for each position are shown below:

TEACHING ASSISTANTS (TAs) are expected to assist the instructor during class time. Their daily working hours are morning/afternoon class times and evening sessions, where appropriate. TAs are expected to:

  • tutor students
  • assist with the class paperwork, photocopying, and clerical tasks
  • set up and clean up demonstrations, activities, and laboratory experiments
  • assist with the smooth operation of the class

PROGRAM ASSISTANTS (PAs) are responsible for student supervision both inside and outside the classroom.  

  • tutor students

  • set up and clean up demonstrations, activities, and laboratory experiments
  • assist with the smooth operation of the class
  • supervise students during lunch, breaks, and afternoon activities
  • assist with morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up

RESIDENTIAL ASSISTANTS (RAs):

  • are responsible for the supervision, safety, and well-being of students
  • help create a community where students can succeed socially and academically
  • attend daily meetings, plan and prepare student activities and events
  • assisting with any residential program needs that arise

RAs’ working hours are primarily the hours students are not in class, including weekends.
