Bridge Program

An innovative English program for all children aged 4-15. Emphasis is not only placed on student’s linguistic skills but also their social, emotional and creative development.

PreK/K Classes (Early Years)

Children grow emotionally, physically, socially, and cognitively during the early years stage. A key component of our English program is complete language immersion. A positive attitude toward learning English and a curiosity in other cultures are fostered via stimulating activities.

Levels 1, 2, 3 (Junior Levels)

In the early years of primary school, we help our children form positive habits that will follow them throughout their academic careers. We value autonomy, critical thinking, cooperation, and respect. At this point, complete immersion in the English language will teach our pupils how to make decisions and communicate effectively. It will also assist them in becoming independent English speakers.

Levels 4, 5, 6 (Senior Levels)

Our goal is to support students as they develop their critical, analytical, and rational thinking abilities in our senior levels. Throughout these stages, English communication skills (oral and written) are developed, and creativity and teamwork are still valued skills.

Levels 7, 8, 9 (Exam Classes)

Our goal in our exam classes is to give students the support, direction, and abilities they need to realize their academic and personal objectives. We offer a variety of subjects throughout the year that are designed to help all of our students expand their knowledge in a variety of English-speaking fields while also practicing exam-based skills, enabling them to access all of the different B2 and C2 degrees. This is part of our effort to empower all of our students to discover what success means to them.

Outdoor Education

The students can take a break from their typical classroom setting by going outside. It awakens their senses and facilitates effective learning. By including this in our curriculum, we demonstrate to children that learning may take place anytime, anyplace. Our students benefit from outdoor learning opportunities by developing their curiosity and their ability to apply problem-solving techniques to actual scenarios.

Bilingual Program

This unique program is designed to meet the needs of children who are exposed to English on a daily basis outside the classroom. It nurtures full or emergent bilinguals to speak, read and write in English using an experience based, holistic approach.

Thematic units

We believe that students learn best by being actively involved. This means providing students with a variety of experiences in the context of themes.

Thematic units involve creating a series of integrated lessons for all content areas, reading, writing, math, science, etc. that are supported by the theme being studied. 

There are so many reasons why using integrated thematic units can benefit young learners:

• Helps students engage with the content being taught
• Allows students to apply content throughout curricula
• Learners are able to make connections
• Draws from past experiences and prior knowledge
• Develops vocabulary and comprehension skills

Through these themes students gain knowledge and develop skills in communication, reading, writing, speaking and listening, and language development (the structure and grammar of language).

Speaking and Listening

A heavy emphasis is placed on the children first learning to speak in English and communicate orally as this is a prerequisite to the development of reading and writing skills.

Reading

Reading skills are learnt through a variety of methods. Some strategies include:

• Class book based on experiences or a particular language function e.g. action words
• Stories where students write and read together with the teacher
• Taking books home where language structures are repeated
• Regular visits to the school library
• Silent reading, looking at print and gaining cues from pictures

Writing

Students begin with writing single words, leading to phrases, sentences and stories.

Homework

Homework is set to reinforce work done in the classroom. There is a set timeframe as to how much homework each level should be given. Books are also given to read at home and there may be small tasks to complete at home.

Reporting to Parents/Guardians

Teachers assess students’ progress regularly. This may take the form of a test, short talks, exercises, book reports, pieces of writing and teacher observation.

At the Bridge Bilingual Program parents/guardians receive formal written report prepared by the teacher twice a year. The report will indicate your child’s achievements and progress and how they can be helped to do better.

Parent Teacher Meetings are held each term to discuss students’ progress.
