Friends' Association

The Association of Friends of Anatolia College (AFAC) was founded in 1985. It is a nonprofit association founded in the public interest which, through the organization of social, cultural and educational events and through efforts to secure donations and sponsorships, seeks to provide moral and financial support for Anatolia College and contributes both to the continuation of the school's educational and social offerings, and to the growth of its scholarship funds.

Its members - parents, teachers or just friends - have generously offered their valuable time and financial support for the past 32 years by working together in order to materialize the Association's goals. All members are united by their love for Anatolia College and its high ideals and by their belief in the value of the educational work that is accomplished on the campus of nonprofit educational institution.

Some of the major projects the Association of Friends of Anatolia is proud to have accomplished utilizing funds raised through fundraising events or by soliciting direct donations throughout the years are:

  • The establishment of two six year scholarships for scholars Asterios Hatzikas 1991-1997 (5.000.000 drs) & Maria-Eris Zotou 1997-2003 (6.500.000 drs)
  • The establishment of a six year scholarship by Christie’s for scholar Kosmas Sidiropoulos 1996-to date (6.500.000 drs)
  • All the furnishing of the school’s Eleftheriades library in October 1989 (4.567.895 drs)
  • The remodeling and furnishing of the Ingle Hall dining room in 1990 (29.759.370 drs)
  • The purchase of a Bluttner grand Piano in August 1990 (3.500.000 drs)
  • The purchase of the desk top publishing equipment for the upgrading of the school’s Printshop in 1993 (88.500 drs)
  • The purchase of new telephone switchboard and overall installation costs of the new system in November 1995 (12.129.650 drs)
  • The purchase of a Hi-Fi sound system in 1995 (2.759.923 drs)
  • The construction of the pedestrian overpass linking the Anatolia campus with the new A.C.T. building in 1996 (34.023.707 drs)
  • The construction works needed for the formation of 2 new science labs in Ingle Hall in October 1996 (15.855.924 drs)
  • The purchase of a set of drums (170.000 drs.) in 1996
  • The donation of a Baptismal font to the New Church (120.000 drs.) in 1996
  • The support of the Drama Club with the amount of 170.000 drs. for the costumes needed in February 1997
  • The support of the Greek Theater club with the amount of 300.000 drs. for the costumes needed in March 1997

    Together with the Alumni and the Parents Associations the Friends Association has shared the expenses for:

  • A farewell dinner in honor of the delegates of the European Youth Parliament hosted at Anatolia in March 1997
  • The presentation of the Greek edition of Carl Compton’s book in March 1997
  • The Commencement 97 reception, which took place in front of Macedonia Hall
  • The financial support to the amount of 300.000 drs. and organizational help, as much as possible, with the 1st European Youth Chorale Festival which was the school’s most demanding activity while Thessaloniki was the Cultural Capital of Europe, in December 1997
  • The financial support to the amount of 250.000 drs. for the Week of the Arts organized in May 1998
  • The installation costs of outdoor High Voltage Boards in May 1998 (160.390 drs)
  • The remodeling of White, Riggs and Ingle Halls 1997-1998 (12.447.259 drs)
  • The upgrading of the Printshop 1998-99 (8.907.776 drs)
  • The repairing of the pottery kiln 1999 (108.914 drs)
  • The painting cost for Dr. McGrew’s portrait 1999 (800.000 drs)
  • The construction of wooden partitions for Ingle Hall Reception 2000 (103.000 drs)
  • The R/T airfare for Tsakiridis Evripidis to participate at the Debate Tournament in the USA 2000 (200.000 drs)
  • The upgrading of Ingle Hall Reception’ heating/air-conditioning 2000 €41.415
  • The creation of a new Computer Laboratory at Kyrides Hall Ground Level 2001(€42.929)
  • The renovation of one of the two science amphitheatres at Kyrides Hall 2002 (€45.493)
  • The Bissell Library from Proceeds of Oct 2, 2002 Concert coorganized with SAAK (€3415)
  • The renovation of the second Science amphitheatre at Kyrides Hall 2003 (€57.385)
  • The financial assistance to cover part of fees of two needy students 2005 (€2.640)
  • The Gymnasium Hall at Ingle Hall New Classroom Annex Building 2005 (goal pledged at €100.000)
  • The purchase and installation of an Elevator for Macedonia-Kyrides Halls to enable disabled people and students to attend classes and meetings at the upper level June 2011 (€29.940)
  • The establishment of six (6) financial aid scholarships of €2.000 each for Lykeion students for the academic year 2013-2014 (€12.000)
  • The establishment of two (2) financial aid scholarships of €2.000 each for Lykeion students for the academic year 2014-2015 (€4.000)
  • Covered part of the a student’s expense to an MUN conference abroad October 2015 (€250)
  • The establishment of two (2) financial aid scholarships of €2.000 each for Lykeion students for the academic year 2015-2016 (€4.000)
  • The purchase of a new sound system in Tsipos Hall January 2016 (€3.000)
  • The founding donation in support of new Learning Spaces at Anatolia College December 2016 (€40.000)
  • The current Goal is the extension if the founding donation in support of new Learning Spaces at Anatolia College
