A Weekend of Words: Our Team at the Moraitis Debate Cup

Fourteen debaters, forming seven teams, travelled to Athens to participate in the Moraitis Debate Cup, accompanied by debate coaches Andrew Harrison and Eva Chatzipappidou. The weekend offered persuasive argumentation, spirited competition, and valuable learning opportunities. The tournament featured four debate rounds, followed by the announcement of the semi-finalists. Although none of our teams advanced to the elimination rounds, students gained exposure to new arguments and debating styles, received detailed feedback, and returned motivated for future competitions. Alongside the main tournament, an impromptu speaking competition was also held. We are especially proud of Malena Dipla, who earned an honourable mention and narrowly missed the finals by just half a point. Overall, the event was rewarding and inspiring.
