When the Little Prince Brought Souls and Smiles Together
Another special gathering brought together students from Anatolia and KEAT, inspired by the timeless work of Antoine de Saint-Exupéry.
With great joy and emotion, this year’s established literary meeting took place between members of Anatolia’s Oral Interpretation club—guided by faculty advisors Athina Thymi and Danae Konstantinou—and the students of the Center for Education and Rehabilitation for the Blind in Thessaloniki (KEAT – School for the Blind). Students Angela Byrou, Dimitra Papaioannidou, Lida Topouzi, Iliana Giontzi, and Petros Bougiouklis participated with enthusiasm and sensitivity, contributing through their presence, voices, and thoughts to the creation of a truly remarkable experience.
Once again, the encounter proved meaningful, warm, and deeply human. It was a meeting filled with smiles, genuine communication, and moments that touched all our hearts. In fact, we might say we enjoyed it even more than ever before, as this time we read together the beloved work The Little Prince by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, creating a unique atmosphere of connection. Through its pages, we were reminded that “one sees clearly only with the heart.”
The discussion that followed was both delightful and profound, rich with thoughtfulness, sensitivity, sincerity, and authentic exchange. Voices came together in a lively dialogue about friendship, love, and all that gives true meaning to life.
The students of KEAT, along with their teacher Mr. Giorgos Karvelas, showed us how to write in Braille. With patience and joy, they introduced us to a different way of communication.
A particularly special and invaluable gift for all of us was the commemorative volume they offered, featuring texts from all the readers printed in Braille, in enlarged print, and in standard text. The volume was carefully curated by Ms. Zouma, the school’s director. The message of thanks that accompanied it beautifully sealed this unique experience.
We all left enriched with emotions and reflections, carrying within us the joy of this special day and the anticipation of our next meeting.
