Remarkable Success for Anatolia Student in International Debate Championship
From January 20 th – January 25 th , Anat Karapanagiotidou (IB2) travelled to Istanbul with the Greek National Debate Team to compete in the 2019 Eurasian Schools Debate Championship. Anat was chosen to represent Greece on the national debate team in December and has been training since in preparation for the World Schools Debating Championship in Sri Lanka this summer. In Istanbul, 40 teams from nearly 20 countries competed over five days. Anat paired up with two other debaters, one Greek and the other South African, to debate a total of twelve rounds on topics such as CRIPSR technology, data monitoring and social credit, and disclosure laws for politicians. Anat’s team performed phenomenally, winning the championship and bringing home the first ever Greek international debate title. Furthermore, Anat earned the title of 2 nd best speaker according to individual speaker points among over 120 speakers.
We are incredibly proud of Anat for representing Anatolia College and Greece with such incredible success, and we wish her luck as she continues to debate with the national team!
