Moon Camp Challenge: Anatolia Students Design Future Moon Base
Three Anatolia teams participated in the Moon Camp Challenge, an educational project run by the European Space Agency, which focuses on the future challenges of Moon habitation. Students must decode complexities that astronauts may face while staying on the Moon for extended periods of time, such as water extraction and energy production. Each team’s mission is to design a 3D Moon Camp for two astronauts, which includes the use of local resources, technological solutions, environmental protection, and sustainable facilities for the astronauts.
After taking part in preparatory classroom activities that focused on learning-by-design and science experimentation, Teams Luna, Lunatics, and Universe developed scientific experiments related to the Moon and applied their knowledge to design their own Moon Camp using a 3D modeling tool.
The results of the challenge will be announced in May. A special thank you to their advisor, Ms. Koliakou, and to Mr. Konstantinidis, who aided students in 3D design and modeling. Good luck to all our students!
