Students Visit Ireland for SAIMUN Conference
Fourteen 5th form and IB1 students, along with teachers Ms. Paula Pappas and Mr. Anastasios Gkentzos, traveled to Dublin to take part in the 2019 St. Andrew’s International Model United Nations conference. Anatolia delegates represented Colombia and Lebanon in a variety of pressing global issues, such as the rise of populism in Europe, the anti-vaccination movement, and developing environmentally friendly technologies to combat climate change. During the rigorous conference, Anatolia delegates met with many other student delegates from around the world, gained skills in diplomatic cooperation, and learned to think quickly in committee in order to best represent their assigned countries. After the conference, students visited the Maritime Museum, the beautiful Trinity College campus, and other sites as they explored the city of Dublin. Special congratulations to Fenia Tsourma, who was awarded “distinguished delegate” at the conference.
