Solving Problems with Math and Logic
February 1-2. This year, forty-five gymnasium and lykeion teams participated in the 9th Annual Math and Logic Competition, a fun competition that asks students to apply their mathematical skills and logic to solve puzzles of varying degrees of difficulty. On Saturday, they competed in four different rounds, and on Sunday, the 12 best competed in the semi-finals, and the best of these in the finals. Puzzle Masters, a team of three gymnasium students from three different schools, and the American Farm School won the gymnasium and lykeion categories respectively.
Congratulations to Anatolia College students Aristeidis Koutsopoulos, Konstantinos Mantas and Michalis Tsialis and to Eleni Daskopoulou, Sofia Amanatidou and Marialena Kapetanaki for winning third place in the gymnasium and lykeion competition respectively.
Thank you to Eri Papadopoulou, our young math teacher who organized the event this year, to her team from the University of Macedonia, Dr. Emmanouil Steiakakis and George Liapis, who co-created the puzzles, to our teachers and alums who served as judges, and to all our gymnasium admin staff, who helped make this yet another successful weekend!
