Great Minds “Meet” Online for the 7th ACSTAC
One hundred and twenty students from 19 schools from all over Greece, under the guidance of 42 mentors, presented their work at the 7th Anatolia College Science and Technology Annual Conference, which was held online on November 7th, 2020. The conference took place from 9.00 a.m. to 6.00 p.m. with two webinars running concurrently during four sessions.
A total of 61 Anatolia College students presented their individual or group oral presentations, posters, and/or exhibitions/constructions in five scientific and technological fields (Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Computer Science) in a simulation that gave them the opportunity to engage in research and adopt approaches and methods used by real scientists.
The keynote speaker, Dr. Zacharias Skouras, Professor of Genetics at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, addressed the students and the guests with an inspiring presentation on “Biology and Complexity: From Aristotle to Contemporary Biology,” and congratulated the participants for their initiatives. The scientific committees that presided over the sessions praised the students and awarded Galanos Moschopoulos for his construction in Physics, Fani Korpeti for her oral presentation in Chemistry, Asimina Axarli and Olga Mavromati for their posters in Chemistry, and Athena Chortareas, Alkistis Dimistou, Lydia Douvleti, and Anna Filindri for their group construction in Chemistry. A sincere thank you to all faculty who mentored the students, to all faculty, alumni, and friends that served on the scientific committees, and to Dr. Maria Tsaousidou, Coordinator of the 7th ACSTAC, for her willingness to make this online conference a reality.
